here is my thought about using the hoosiers... its angolas race so angola rules as far as the tires... if i go to plymouth will u and all the regulars switch to radials so i can race for one night??? i dont think so and i would not expect u to do so either.... your rules are alot more open than ours already.. we gave in with the clutch issue already so guys could come race angola and be legal... this subject should be voted on during the first couple of weeks of the season so all the regulars can give their opinion... i just dont see the regulars voting to put themselves at a disadvantage if they dont buy a set of racing tires to run for 1-3 races.. also something to think about is that we race on the 19th and the "outlaw" race is the next day... how many people would change stuff over the next morning just to change it back for the following week ?? i like the opening up of the rules, but i think it should be done after the season is over.. i suggest the july 20th race be strictly angola rules on everything and have the outlaw shows only on sept 26 and 27.. possibly even with hoosiers???... just a suggestion, but i think it should be voted on by the regulars first..

I am with you on that one jellybean. I think strictly Angola rules for the midseason special, and maybe Hoosiers on Sept 26th. My biggest issue with radials is that they are a type of street tire. Why are we putting street tires on racecars, thats what racing tires are for.

originally this class was supposed to be cost effective so the beginners could get into racing at a somewhat reasonable price.. we are far from that now to have a competitive car.. in my opinion the key to keeping this class growing is making an attempt to keep it affordable to the people who are just starting out... those are the future racers that this class has to depend on for the class to survive.. there will always be the die-hards that show up everyweek year in year out.. but who are they going to race against in 09 and beyond??.. the economy sucks right now which doesn't help much either.. if we are trying to get better car counts we first need to get people into racing and not scare them off .. it is nice that one track does open up their rules so people that want to go that route can, but its is also nice that other tracks dont so the racers do have a choice.. we both have valid points but the ultimate goal is to keep the class growing so we have someone to race against in years to come.. my fear is the minis will be dead in about 3 years and if these guys think a mini stock is expensive try a street stock or higher class... right now there is a class for us to race in...

That has been my point for years now. I have been trying to get people to understand that we are running off future racers. I run all stock except my cam and springs because that is what i can afford. I have a junk yard as a sponsor for all the parts i need. I get my tires from there because they are free. The class is suppose to be affordable to the low budget racer and future racers to see if they like it. Darwin Wolfe could tell you that my cars are very competative because of the way i set them up and the way i drive. Not because i can put 5000 in my motor. Just wouldnt be fun if i put alot of money in my car so me and 2 or 3 other guys to beat the rest of the cars. I like door to door racing from 1st to last.

Racers are their own worst enemy. Some guys will do whatever it takes to satisfy their own egos. I agree door to door racing throughout the field would be great, but it does not usually happen that way. This class should be stock, with the exceptions for safety and general changes such as suspension so the cars will go around the track. The promoters are in a pickle because it has gotten so far out of hand. On one side they can open up the rules and lose the lower budget guys, or they can go back to what the class was origianally intended and lose the cars that have big money wrapped up in the equipment they already have. It is a double edged sword! The ability to tech what is inside a motor is a big issue with short tracks around the country trying to keep their doors open with mostly volunteer employees. I do not envy the position!

On a positive side of it the Employees, Drivers, Teams, Families, and Fans are the best there are!! I am very fortunate to be a part of the Angola Motor Speedway "Family"!

By the way... I am also fortunate that those who work for me don't do it for the money! LOL

I agree with whats being said mostly. I also know that its all about the money, and always will be because things have gotten out of hand. I know we want to keep this a beginners class but with the rules opened as far as they are there is no looking back. Just like Grubby said, he is mostly stock "except" the cam and springs. Its different for everyone when it comes to what they can afford. One guy can afford much more, then there are starters who cant even afford that. Where does it end, its no longer a beginner class. Now I believe front-wheel drives are taking that name from us.
